May the gods be with you

I saw a pale grey ibis nesting among the rubble this morning. The land has been so badly injured, so visciouly neglected and now birds are finding peace behind the fences.

Tandos has sold the site

As always in Moreland, residents are the last to know. Tandos has sold the site, to who I am yet to discover.

Letter to Roger the dodger

Dear Mr
Can you please advise as to the work undertaken by and council appointed building supervisor in relation to the coburg high school site.

I wish to make application for enforcement of the demolition permit and require specific information from you. Does the site, in its current condition, comply with the demolition permit issued by Council?

Response from Roger Collins

Dear Mr Robinson

I thank you for your latest e-mail, which seeks confirmation whether demolition works have been completed at the Coburg High site given that the concrete slab of the 1970’s buildings remains.

While the planning permit which allows demolition of this building does not contain any specific conditions in relation to removal of the slab from […]

Concerns as to the state odf the site continue: the concrete slab (2 metres thick) is still intact. Does this conform to the requirements of the permit issued by Moreland Council?

Dear Mr Robertson,

I refer to your recent e-mail of 2 January 2008 to Roger Collins, Director City Development. An inspection of the former Coburg High School site confirms that since Council’s last correspondence to you of four or so weeks ago the demolition works on the site have been substantially completed. Council is currently awaiting advice from the site owner […]

Demolition still not completed - dec 31

Commitment means nothing in Moreland. The site of the old Coburg High School site is a mess and nought is being done.

Dear Mr Collins

On August 23 2007 demolition commenced on the old Coburg High School building in accordance with the above permit. The permit stipulated that demolition must be completed within 28 days of commencement.

The building was not demolished by September 19. I subsequently pursued a reason for this […]
