Is demolition complete? Why is concrete slab still intact??
Published 6 months, 3 weeks ago in My life.Concerns as to the state odf the site continue: the concrete slab (2 metres thick) is still intact. Does this conform to the requirements of the permit issued by Moreland Council?
Dear Mr Collins - the demolition company working on the old Coburg High School site informed me today that they had completed their work at the site. They have removed all equipment form the site and removed thier advertising hordiong from the front fence.
Is it the Council’s understanding that the state of the site as of today conforms with the requirements of the demolition permit issued by Council and extended?
I ask this question as the concrete slab of the 1970’s building is still intact.
It will also assist me in preparing my case that I want to take to VCAT to ensure enformcement of the original demolition permit.

I heard on the grapevine that Aboriginal Affairs Victoria put a stop-work order on the demolition of the foundations under the provisions Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006 because the site is known to be a pre-contact burial ground.
