Carlo Carli button holed in Bridges Reserve
Published 1 year, 4 months ago in My life.![]()
Member for Brunswick Carlo Carli, kindly gave 2 minutes of his time a few 40 minutes ago in Bridges Reserve as I headed for my constitutional swim. Mr Carli was asked if he knew what was transpiring at the old Coburg High School site which abutts Bridges Reserve. This very important mover and shaker informed me that council was awaiting information from Tandos, the owner, as to how he would recognise the requirement for the 5% land he would hand over and the physical interpretation of the history of the school site. Mr Carli also stated that the possibility of a Helath Centre occupying the front third of the property was not “secure”. Mr Carli expressed astonishment that the site had yet to be demolished some 120 days since VCAT approved Council’s decision to demolish the entire building.

Whatever - jus tkeep the posts coming whoever you are - it keeps my page up on the front of Nook - maybe that weasel liar Justin madden will stumble over it
Does Carlo actually do anything anymore? I thought he was run out of government by Bracksy and his right wing mates.
Carlo Carli was elected to the Victorian Parliament in May 1994 for the State seat of Coburg, which in 2002 became Brunswick. Carlo is a member of the Legislative Assembly in the Parliament of Victoria. In Parliament Carlo is Chairperson of the Scrutiny of Acts and Regulations Committee. In the previous term of the Bracks Government Carlo was working with Peter Batchelor, then Minister for Transport, as Parliamentary Secretary for Infrastructure.
Carlo has an extensive background in policy development for planning issues (see below).
Carlo has a longstanding interest in public transport and urban planning, and continues to be active in promoting sustainable transport policies. In his current role as Chairperson of the Scrutiny of Acts and Regulations Committee, he is keen to be part of the implementation of Victoria’s Charter of Human Rights and Responsabilities.
Could you please ask him SB when and if a state government health facility is to be located on the old Coburg High school site. Carlo had discussed this possibility in public fora concerning the site.
Peter, why don’t you ask him youself?
I would have thought that locating a health facility would involve some sort of negotiation with the owner.
If I was the owner I would be charging a premium!
no doubt yuo will object if a permit was lodged for a medical centre given you have objected to everything else.
The owner, Geroge Tandos, Real Diamond Real estate, informed me after his success at VCAT that the Royal Melbourbne Hospital was locating a unit in the front third of the property.
Peter - would you have objected to the demolition if you knew that it would facilitate a public facility?
If my mother had a moustache she’d be my dad…..Tandos i sdesperate he cant fund th edevelopment himself and he cant find a legit development company to come on board - he wants something to occupy the front third of the property that fronts Bell Street (traffic sewer). The local ALP are desperately looking for a public facility to relocate and this site is a good one for Moreland Community Health. But at the end of the day the owner has abrogated his rights over the land.
